I sat down with all of these gorgeous photos that Brad and I recently took with the amazingly talented Megan Lee of Megan Lee Photo and I contemplated what I would title this post…

There are so many big milestones that couples hit throughout their relationships. Many of which we love to document and hold onto forever. Engagement shoots, wedding photos, the announcement of a new baby. I have always been a major advocate for documenting life and holding onto all of the cherished moments that we experience along the way.

It dawned on me a couple months ago that Brad and I hadn’t taken photos together in a long time. Of course we take them before date nights and on holidays, but we have not truly taken the time to get quality photos since we were engaged and then married over three years ago. I think part of me kept holding on to the idea that we would soon take them when we announced we were pregnant and having a baby. It seems if you are not engaged, getting married or with child, what’s the point of a photoshoot? With the journey of trying to have a baby about to hit the two year mark this July, I was beginning to feel like we had nothing to celebrate or document.

Then it hit me. Why do we have to have a major life event occur to celebrate our love and relationship?! I mean, baby or not, THIS IS US. We are in love. And we wanted to celebrate it!

I think it’s so easy to take things in life for granted. To wish we had things the way someone else has. To have control over how things play out and have a say in the manner in which they do. However, that’s not life. God is the architect and we are His greatest plans.

When Brad and I were out taking these photos, I truly felt like God was shining down on us. He was there with us, celebrating our love and our life beside us. Brad is my greatest treasure in this life. I’m going to celebrate that everyday for the rest of my life. These photos will be my documentation of just that.

No matter where you are at in life or what you are going through, take the time to stop and celebrate. Celebrate you, celebrate a relationship, a marriage, a new baby. Stop and document the memories. Take a photoshoot just because. I promise you it’s worth every bit of it.
